On January 12, students from Carthage College in Wisconsin paid a visit to CAIR-Chicago. Taking a course on the role of women in the literature and arts of the contemporary Middle East, the students wanted to learn more about Muslims and media. Communications coordinators Aymen Abdel Halim and Leena Saleh featured presentations on historical contexts of Muslim representation, Muslim women in the media, and portrayals of Muslim women in popular culture. |

As of September 20, 2011, the FBI released a statement for Òa comprehensive review of all training and reference materials that relate in any way to religion or culture.Ó A leak by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Asian Law Caucus in July revealed FBI training materials that were Islamophobic in nature. |
